ABout Tybee Island
Tybee Island is an ideal year-round destination for travelers of all ages, and especially those who seeking quality time with the family, and the "feel" of a home away from home. From its sandy shores and Atlantic breezes to the quaint cottages and eclectic dining, this small island, measuring not even 3 1/2 square miles, will help you get in touch with yourself, your family and those you love.
Just about 1/2 hour East of Savannah, you will find Tybee Island. There are 5 beaches, and more than 5 miles of beachfront easily accessible, with food only a short distance away. Historic sites such as Ft. Pulaski and the Tybee Island Light Station are a sure bet for any day of the week. Other activities, depending on the day or the weekend, include the Tybee Farmer's Market, a movie or live show at the Post Theater, or an art exhibition or show.
Less than 40 miles from the Savannah/Hilton Head airport, and less than 50 miles from HIlton Head, you will find Tybee, year round. With about 3,000 year-round residents, Tybee stays casual and quiet, even in season. You can fish, kayak, cycle, and take a dolphin tour before enjoying one of Tybee Island's more than 40 restaurants. It is best to travel by car, but you can easily rent a golf cart to use during your stay. And unless you rent a golf cart, plan on paying to park wherever you go on Tybee Island ($2.00/hr, from 8AM-8PM). And be careful if you bring your pup. There's a fine, year round, for walking dogs on Tybee's beaches.
Gather the family, grab your beach towels, pack the car and come see us. We promise your trip will be memorable, and if we were betting people, we'd bank on seeing you again.
